Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, APC State Chairman with Ikorodu political leaders at the mega rally organized in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re – election by the liaison body championing the “Ikorodu Division for Governor” agenda earlier this year at the Ikorodu Town Hall, Ikorodu.

As rumours of Ikorodu Division missing out again in the quest to clinch the Governorship position in Lagos State, continue to fly around, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu, and a former council supervisor, Hon. Adedeji Osho has called out the division’s political leaders, accusing them of failing to a deserving Governorship potential candidate in Ikorodu.

He called them out at the weekend for failing to push at the apex level of the ruling party for the “Ikorodu for Governor” agenda which the entire division has been clamouring for.

Hon. Osho alleged that Ikorodu political leaders failed to mention names of representatives from Ikorodu who had distinguished themselves in the past years and brought the dividends of democracy and good governance to the people.

In his viral video, the concerned citizen urged indigenous people of Ikorodu and residents who have been residing in Ikorodu for the past 20 years to state who is the most qualified representative in Ikorodu Division for the position of the Governor of Lagos State.

Osho, who added that the entire residents in Ikorodu know who is the most qualified and whose name will be mentioned if the division is asked to present a candidate and the best two if Ikorodu is asked to mentioned two names, deplored a situation where the political leaders allegedly failed to present a name or two to the apex leadership of the party.

He alleged that they were also asked at the Presidential and they failed to present any name, especially the name of the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, who has been facilitating roads, medical centres, schools, market and empowering numerous constituents.

Hon. Osho who has been at loggerheads with some apex APC leaders in Ikorodu, accused the political leaders of selling out Ikorodu Division. He added that he is only maintaining his membership of the party because of Rep. Babajimi Benson, the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency who he said has proven to be the best governorship candidate from Ikorodu going by his representation.

He also alleged that the political leaders are protecting their own children but denying others who are hardworking and bringing development to Ikorodu the opportunity to serve in higher places.

Osho frowned at the relegation of representatives of Ikorodu who are doing very well by the political leaders.

Relatedly, while Hon. Osho has promised to give details of what actually transpired in the subsequent post, residents of Ikorodu have also condemned the roles of political leaders in the uncertainties facing the “Ikorodu for Governor” agenda.

Majority of the about 300 respondents to his post commended him for his boldness and clamoured for Rep. Babajimi Benson as the best hand for the Governorship position from Ikorodu.

The claim by Hon. Osho tallies with the rumour going round that the liaison body championing the Ikorodu Division for Governor which included Obas in the Division has also been compromised by the politicians who are members.

It was gathered that, while the body was conceived for the attainment of the governorship agenda for the division, the politicians who are members introduced the re – election of President Bola Tinubu into the agenda to make it have holistic perspective and also give the primary agenda backing.

The acceptance of the idea introduced by the political class, it was gathered led to the staging of “Ikorodu Division for Tinubu” mass rally which was staged at the Ikorodu Town Hall with big political figures in attendance including the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, who commended Ikorodu Division for the initiative.

The mega rally held in February, was the first of such for President Tinubu’s re – election in the entire country.

After the rally, it was gathered that the political class’ interest in the primary agenda dwindled as they do not want to be seen associating with the agenda.

The situation our reporter gathered really disturbed the non-political party figures and the traditional rulers in Ikorodu Division who are committed to the cause.

It was gathered that the traditional rulers who have been championing the “Ikorodu Division for Governor” are not happy with the event has turned out.
